March 11, 2007 - Stapleton - bike, backside ollie, front-side-five, crash, and a fakie-to-disaster.
January 7, 2007 - A couple of things happened in Denver this past year
that I neglected to mention below (Actually, I intentionally omitted
these things, but people continue to remind me). First, the X-Games
indoor skatepark in the Colorado Mills mall reopened in 2006 as a
Woodward park. Second, the Louisville
bowl was "repaired," and the reports are that the flow is better.
Third, Fort Collins went from being the best skatepark town in Colorado
to perhaps the worst when it closed the park at the Northside Aztlan Community Center
and then scrapped the skatepark from its plans for the new Spring
Canyon Park. As a city memorandum explains, "[t]he primary
difference between the park we will build and the one originally
designed is the skate park." Meaning, no skatepark at all.
October 28, 2006 - I spent part of last week in Barcelona.
October 7, 2006 - Jay
sent some pictures of the Loveland Sports
Park's new skatepark.
October 7, 2006 - Denver finally removed the crusher fines from the
perimeter of the Stapleton
skatepark, and replaced it with concrete. They also added two
benches.
August 12, 2006 - The Colorado Coalition for Public Skateparks ("CCPS")
is a Colorado non-profit corporation working to get better and more
skateparks for Colorado skaters. Make a donation, please, via
paypal to donate@coloradoskateparks.org.
August 12, 2006 - You know that iron bridge near the Denver skatepark that goes
over the Platte River? The thing is historic. Apparently
the Nineteenth Street Bridge was originally built in 1888, and is the
oldest surviving wrought iron bridge in Colorado.
June 24, 2006 - Got some pictures of Fairplay
/ South Park skatepark.
May 19, 2006 - A part of the local
natural terrain is being torn down.
March 3, 2006 - The Fallen Warehouse gets busted. -ion has since
put together a comprehensive documentary of this place. I
was fortunate enough to skate (I use that term loosely here) there
twice (12/16/2005 and 1/21/2006).
January 18, 2006 - The Colorado Coalition for Public Skateparks ("CCPS")
has it's own website now. Check it out for the latest in Colorado
public
skateparks.

Skateboards opened Grindwell indoor skatepark in Castle Rock in

October 6, 2005 - Want to see another empty modular park? Take a
look at Snowmass.
September 23, 2005 - Since I started this site in 2001, I've resisted
the temptation to post any sort of "links" page. Against my
better judgment, I've now posted a "resources"
page.
September 14, 2005 - Another private indoor
skatepark in the Denver area bites the dust. The ESPN X-Games
Skatepark at the Colorado Mills mall in Lakewood went dark this
week.
September 2, 2005 - Edwards
skatepark had its grand
opening.
The bowl is fun, but the street section was not that great. On
the
way there, I hit Silverthorne,
which is always fun.
July 9, 2005 - Last week I took a road trip, and got to skate
a few
places along the way. Laramie,
Wyoming, was fun. Edora
was overrun with bikes.
I bruised my shins up at the Fossil
Creek skate plaza in Ft. Collins, CO. And I found an empty
modular skatepark in Saratoga,
Wyoming.
June 17, 2005 - Denver is going to put up some modular skate
stuff at
the Johnson Rec. Center near Elyria Park (4809 Race Street).
Thanks,
but modular? I'll report back, perhaps, when it's done.
Also,
Steamboat Springs is adding a 24-foot-wide mini ramp with a 12-foot
spine
to its current skatepark, and hopes to add a concrete park next
summer.
May 6, 2005 - I got a chance to try out Westminster
this morning, and posted some pictures and a brief description.

including a better look at Aurora's big
bowl, and a shot of the bmx
freestyle area.

Center skatepark in Centennial. Check out
the pictures.
November 20, 2004 - The Trails Recreation Center, with
skatepark, opened
this day in Centennial.
November 6, 2004 - By now you probably have read Westword's
piece on Colorado skatepark construction and design. Also,
there
is one less reason to go to Lowry.
January 19, 2004 - I finally put up some pictures of Castle
Rock's skatepark. Also, I should mention that Stapleton
skatepark is open. I skated it on New Year's Day. Finally,
yesterday I added some additional pictures of the Colorado History
Museum
to the Downtown
Denver page.
January 17, 2004 - I started to add some Central
Denver spots.
December 28, 2003 - Today I took a look at a new concrete
skatepark
in Adams County at 86th Ave. and Zuni. It is within the Hyland
Hills
Parks and Rec. District. If you want to go there, take
Federal, go east on 84th, and go north on
Zuni.
October 18, 2003 - Ft. Collins's Fossil
Creek plaza-style skatepark opened.
September 9, 2003 - Estes
apparently put up more wooden obstacles, and called it a
skatepark.
Thanks to Jay for the update.

hit Denver.
Check out the Hot Chocolate video for footy.

Run opened with a small dedication
on July 11, 2003. Phase II also includes some new
rails, ledges, and angle
irons on existing edges.

in
recent years.
May 8, 2003 - The flat for the Snake
Run was poured.
April 22, 2003 - You must take a look at Trinidad's
new skatepark, built by Grindline.
It is breathtaking.

plan for Phase II, courtesy of The
Architerra Group.
November 23, 2002 - Evidence
why you must session the new spots while they're still skateable.
I was lucky enough to get one session in before the bench was
added.
Thanks to Zach for the bad news.
